Description

April Epner teaches high school Latin, wears flannel jumpers, and is used to having her evenings free. Bernice Graverman brandishes designer labels, favors toad-sized earrings, and hosts her own tacky TV talk show: Bernice G! But behind the glitz and glam, Bernice has followed the life of the daughter she gave up for adoption thirty-six years ago. Now that she's got her act together, she's aiming to be a mom like she always knew she could. And she's hurtling straight for April's quiet little life....

AudioFile Magazine...
Mia Barron's dynamic range captures the drama and comedic tension between laid-back 36-year-old Alice Epner and flamboyant Bernice Graverman. Alice is a high school Latin teacher whose adoptive parents have recently died. She is quietly going about her life when Bernice shows up, announcing that she's Alice's birth mother. Barron delivers this comedy of manners with subtle irony and humor. She perfectly renders Alice's detached manner at the initial news and portrays Alice's shock when Bernice announces some extraordinary paternity claims. This comedic find about two polar opposites is filled with funny dialogue and intriguing characters. Barron delivers a polished performance that will keep listeners laughing. G.D.W.
